OpenCanvass

I’m heading up development of OpenCanvass for Everyday Canvassing, a community engagement nonprofit in Montgomery County, Maryland where I am technology director.

OpenCanvass is made up of a web portal and a field app.

The web portal lets organizers build campaigns, plan canvasses, pick turfs, build surveys, manage volunteers, and review results. The system includes a local AI transcription and PII detection pipeline which feeds into cleaning & qualitative tagging modules currently under development.

The OpenCanvass field app lets canvassers plan and coordinate door-knocking and collect interviews from respondents.

Currently, OpenCanvass has been rolled out within Everyday Canvassing where it is used for all EC-led canvassing efforts. We are now preparing for the next major milestone, roll-out to our first external users.
